Promoting the respect for hockey and the relationship between parents and hockey kids…
The video shows the story of a young player, supposedly Florent van Aubel, who is playing a hockey game while his “dad” is watching. The dad is a very loud, annoying and irritating. The message of the video is to show how we need to show respect for the game:
This is what the dad says while watching the game:
“I am the dad of Junior, he is my little champion, right Junior? Come one! Pass the ball! I have already realised that he is talented, but young players need to be pushed, otherwise they will become losers. My goodness Junior! What did I tell you? In God’s name, what did I tell you?!!? The problem is the team, the players don’t have his level. Junior, if you are going to play like that we will go home right away. The parents are way too tolerant. Hey ref! Are you blind? In addition, Junior is very shy, he even peed his bed. In sports is the same as in life: the law of the jungle. Ok Junior, that’s enough but you must not cry, you do it again we go home!”
Later we see a grown up Florent van Aubel as a Belgian international player. He shares this message:
“Hockey can change people but we must not change hockey. Make sure to respect the umpires and the opponents. Don’t be aggressive towards other people but sing and support us! Make sure that our kids always smile!”
