Goalkeeping training: Figure 8 Footwork Drill
This is a simple footwork drill having the goalies move in a figure 8 pattern. You can do this same drill for 30 or 45 seconds on hard, 30 seconds off of recovery. It’s an easy warm up drill to get their feet moving and legs warm.
Variations of the drill: Have another goalie or coach tossing balls to the goalie in the drill to work on hand eye coordination while moving. Also add a dive to the left and right of the footwork pattern for a little fitness work. This training session is presented by Julie Janes for Aim Field Hockey.
