4 Hockey Drills For A Passing Training Session
This 4 hockey drills are basic drills that can be used when coaching young players or even as a dynamic warm-up for an advanced team. In case that this is used with youngsters, we can extend the length of time of the drill while we focus on correcting the technical details of the chosen pass (push, sweep, hit, reverse pass, etc.). In the case that we use these drills for an advanced team, we will reduce the time and demand more speed and dynamism. In any case, we want to suggest a twist to the typical “find a partner and make passes” part of an integral training session.
Hockey Drill #1: Dynamic passing
As stated before, when we pair up with one partner, we only pass and receive the ball vertically, if we add two players to form a group of 4, then we have a vertical, a parallel and a diagonal pass as an option which makes the pass vary the angles. In addition, with every passing exercise, we have to stop the ball therefore, us coaches we need to focus on forcing the players to receive as if they were under pressure (protection of the ball), as if we were attacking (offensive reception), escaping from an opponent, etc.
